The Iron Crossing – Uyuni Railway Hiking Experience

WHAT IS THE IRON CROSSING?
The Iron Crossing is a 6.5 km hiking experience that combines Bolivia’s railway history with the extraordinary landscapes of the Andean highlands.
The journey begins with the story of Bolivia’s industrial revolution and the first steam railways that connected the region with the Pacific coast. Along the trail, you’ll discover remarkable geological formations, including hoodoos and yardangs, while exploring a landscape rich in native flora and Andean wildlife.
Vicuñas, vizcachas and, with some luck, the elusive Andean cat are among the species that inhabit this remote environment.
More than a hike, The Iron Crossing is a journey where Bolivia’s industrial past meets the living landscapes of the Altiplano.
